Agency Description: Bolder Options provides transformational individual mentoring and development for at-promise youth between the ages of 10-14 in the Twin Cities and Rochester. Our programs are focused on developing and nurturing healthy minds and bodies – for all participants. Anchored in mentoring, comprehensive programming coordinates resources in a united effort to support at-promise 10 – 14 years old youth, who have an extraordinary raw potential for positive life skills and need positive adult role models to develop it. Bolder Options emphasize exercise, fitness, nutrition, social and emotional health as well as an array of life skills like financial literacy, gardening, sports, and more; and we encourage healthy active lifestyles, positive self-esteem, and smart choices in the classroom and in life.

Purpose: As coordinator, you will design, facilitate, and implement programming events at Bolder Options while creating a sustainable curriculum that can be utilized at all Bolder Options sites. This position will work closely with youth and mentors participating in our mentoring program and will provide lessons and creative activities involving physical activity, emotional development, life skills acquisition, and community connection.

Reports to: Director of Program Management

 

Major Responsibilities:

- Research, plan and lead all healthy living, lifelong learning, emotional development and community   connectivity events (36%)

- Plan and lead at least one 5k race and bike rides/spin class on a monthly basis (19%)

- Plan and co-lead events with Alumni Program Advisory Board members for the alumni program in

 Twin Cities and Rochester (16%)

- Seek out and form partnerships with partners that aid in program development/delivery (12%)

- Collaborate with other program staff on projects (12%)

- Attend all required staff meetings and training (5%)

- Develop programming fit for delivery online and in-person as needed

- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Competencies:

- A B.A. or B.S. in a human services field (social work, education, etc) and/or project coordination. Or   equivalent experience

- Experience in facilitating and implementing programming based in health and wellness, preferably       with youth

- Ability to successfully complete a 5K race or community bike event

- Experience in youth development, collaboration and networking, and program coordination

- Experience working with diverse communities

- Must love physical activities and sharing this experience with others

- Must be able to work well independently and in a team setting

- A strong desire to learn and acquire additional skills

- Strong network within running/biking communities and youth-serving organizations of Minnesota

- Strong network within Twin Cities

- Flexibility in schedule to meet program needs

- Good judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness

- Experience working with technology (laptop, cell phone, etc.)

- Experience navigating through Google programs (Docs, Sheet, Forms, Slides)

- Excellent organizational, communication, time-management, reliability, consistency and prioritization

  skills

- Spanish language proficiency is preferred

- Creative, adventurous spirit, good sense, of humor and fun

Work Hours:  40/week with flexible hours

Salary: This job starts at $40,000/year and has full benefits including dental and vision insurance. We also offer free entrances to 5ks and bike rides.
